FAQ on Obesity / Weight Loss / Fad Diets

How do I know if I am obese?

Traditionally, a person would know he or she is obese by measuring their BMI. However, this is now a redundant way to measure obesity. Is there a difference between weight loss and fat loss?

Yes, there is. When people decide to go on a diet their main concern is to drop the number on the scale. They reduce their food intake and ususally go on a low carb diet and take detox drinks. This causes your body to lose water, bone mass and muscle, all of which your body needs to maintain healthy and free of medical conditions. Fat loss, on the other hand is focused on losing the body fat percentage while increasing lean muscle mass and bone density. This might (you guessed it) seem like you're adding on the kilos but remember, muscle and bone weight more than fat.

Don't genetics affect weight?

Yes, they do. It is genes that determine if someone who caughs down 3 burgers a week would weigh less than someone who has a resenably healthier diet. That is why TR90 is an amazing weight management program that targets fat at the genetic level. You still have to start eating the right portions and keep up with the ideal 15 mins of vigorous exercise too to ensure a change in lifestyle so the weight doesn't bounce back on after the program.

I have been on many diets, why do I keep gaining back the weight I lost?

Most fad diets we read about on the internet and magazines do not help a person develop a proper habit. There is no short cut, and even if there is, it won't last, mainly because the moment someone loses 5kg, he or she goes back to the bad eating habits they had before and gain back the kilos, sometimes double it.
